Anne Sahlberg - Biography & Overview
MHS has been my home for 23 years after earning a BA in English Literature from Chico State University, a teaching credential from National University, and a MA Ed in School Counseling from Concordia University. With 15 years in the classroom teaching English and now going on eight years as an academic counselor, I am honored to work with the best students in Humboldt County! Over this time, I have assisted our students not only as a faculty member but as club advisor (most recently Diversity Club), and previously as a class advisor, assistant coach, Kinetic Sculpture Team coordinator, IB and AP teacher, SAT prep teacher, and chaperone for myriad events. For more details on my experience, please view my CV posted below.
My hope as a counselor is to help as many students, faculty, staff, and families as possible. Every student is unique, and to help each one navigate high school in ways that best suit their needs is paramount. To this end, our Student Services Department offers numerous opportunities for college and career exploration by teaming up with various staff and faculty as well as participating in information nights to keep families educated about graduation requirements, college applications, financial aid, and many other concerns.
