About me

This will be my 23th year of teaching Spanish for the Northern Humboldt Union High School District. I was born in Mackay, Australia and grew up in San Rafael, California. I moved to Humboldt right after high school to attend HSU and have adopted this majestic place as my home. Since graduating, I have lived, worked and studied in Santiago, Chile, Oaxaca, Mexico, Xi’an, China, Quito, Ecuador and in 2014 I returned from studying for a year abroad in Madrid, Spain in La Universidad Autónoma de Madrid where I received my Masters in Spanish Language. I am the mother of three bilingual/ bi-cultural children, one is attending MHS and other is living abroad in Nantes, France for her junior year. The 3rd graduated from MHS class of 2019. I coordinate study abroad programs in Oaxaca, Mexico and closer to home in the Mission District, San Francisco. Every other summer I lead an intercultural and academic exchange to Oaxaca. The students live with host families, take dancing, acting and art classes with Oaxaca high school students and study Spanish at La Universidad Autónoma de Benito Juárez.
