good morning Panthers in welcome to 2021 just got to be a better year right than 2020 by sure hope you had a wonderful week off for 2 weeks off actually rest recharge the batteries and just got away from screen for a little while and are ready for our second semester in the new year so again it's it's great to see it even if it is virtually as you can see it will stormy outside I typically like to do this out in the early morning get a wake up call out in the cold air in. Not today it's little rainy a little windy so good day to stay inside we are in 2 semester 2 and with that comes the definitely some spooky announcements first and foremost you know I'll for the most part nothing change with regards to schedule but I do know sometimes students have made some schedule changes their counselors in anticipation the second semester so if you requested schedule today you're not sure if it happened or not good your student view check your student schedule those should have been updated so I'll go look for that but they should have been updated over the break and so if you need some help please get in contact with us number to this week from noon to 4 Tuesday through Thursday in the libraries on this is milky and and who is Lindbergh will be there to check out books to you as well as if you have books to turn in it's a great chance to get some overdue library books back in for students that have turned all their books back in we are going to do a daily drawing about Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday we're going to have some raffle items some food items for around town so I can get those in there are bonuses if you took your picture in picture you have a pick that up yet I do have those available in the library as well that's a great segue into some students ask about student ID cards actually send those out with your Fort Carson Co report cards are due to go out on on Friday and we should put your student ID in your student ID card should go in there with those so I'll be ready for that today and I know it seems like there's not a lot to talk about one is RR quote for the week and this comes from the amazing Maya Angelou here's what she says I think this is fitting for starting a new semester I did that what I knew how to do now that I know better I do better and I think that's very fitting right we've learned a lot in 2020 about a lot of things but in particular doing distance learning so take you've learned in and apply that and then and have a wonderful semester second semester and who knows what the future holds my hope is at some point safely we we find ways to each back on campus as well alright in the final thing is I over the brakes are director of student services from the district misses Conway send out something with regards to turn cameras on during our Zoom meetings and I know from the from the beginning of the school year that it was never the expectation that your camera should be on and zoom but we want to work at lunch we want to change that we want we want to see your lovely a beautiful faces during during class and there's a couple reasons for that has there been doing a lot of studies actually over this this past year cameras are on and teachers cameras are on there's more engagement students participate more part of the class and students tend to feel more connected and that's what we want for all of you is to feel connected in Hindi during these time so your teachers may be talking with you today about when and how to turn your cameras on and obviously there certain situations where it's not appropriate to have your cameras on and I'll talk to you about that I just want you to know where that's coming from is we want to see you're a lovely monster Panthers I just make this experience better as we go through this together until safe for us to back in our classroom so I got for today have a wonderful first day back dry stay warm and talk soon take care bye
